Amazon's Fire TV Stick is the most popular way to watch IPTV, and for good reason — it's cheap, portable, and powerful enough to handle 4K streams without breaking a sweat. But the Firestick doesn't come with a built-in IPTV player, which means you need a third-party app to load your M3U playlist or Xtream Codes login.
We've tested the major IPTV apps on both the Firestick 4K Max and the standard Firestick Lite over the past several months. Below are the four that actually work well — ranked by overall experience, stability, and value.
The 4 Best IPTV Apps for Firestick
1. TiviMate — The Community Favorite
Free (limited) · Premium $4.99/year or $19.99 lifetimeTiviMate has built a loyal following that speaks for itself — the r/TiviMate subreddit has over 20,000 members sharing tips, layouts, and custom setups. It's the app most Firestick users end up on after trying the others.
The interface feels like a real cable TV guide. You get a grid-style EPG (electronic program guide) that loads fast, supports channel grouping, and lets you set favorites. Picture-in-picture, catch-up playback, and recording to external storage are all supported in the premium version.
- Best EPG layout of any IPTV app
- Fast channel switching (under 2 seconds)
- Multiple playlist support
- Regular updates from an active developer
- Catch-up and recording built in
- Premium required for most useful features
- Not on the Amazon App Store — requires sideloading
- No built-in VPN
Best for: Anyone who wants a polished, cable-like viewing experience and doesn't mind paying a few dollars per year for quality software.
2. IPTV Smarters Pro
FreeSmarters Pro is the app most IPTV providers recommend to their customers, and there's a reason — it supports Xtream Codes login out of the box, which means no messing around with M3U URLs. Enter your username, password, and server URL and you're watching within a minute.
The interface is clean and organized into Live TV, Movies, Series, and Catch-Up sections. It handles multi-screen well if your subscription supports it. The EPG works, though it's not as visually polished as TiviMate's grid layout.
- Free with no feature restrictions
- Simple Xtream Codes login
- Available on the Amazon App Store
- Parental controls built in
- EPG is basic compared to TiviMate
- Channel switching is slightly slower
- Occasional crashes on older Firestick models
Best for: Beginners who want a free, straightforward app that works without sideloading.
3. OTT Navigator
Free (ad-supported) · Pro $2.49 one-timeOTT Navigator flies under the radar, but it's a serious app for people who like to customize. It supports M3U, Xtream Codes, and Stalker portal — meaning it works with virtually any IPTV provider. The settings menu goes deep: you can tweak buffer sizes, decoder options, and even create custom channel logos.
Where OTT Navigator really shines is reliability. It handles large playlists (10,000+ channels) without slowing down, and the auto-update feature keeps your EPG data current without you lifting a finger.
- Supports M3U, Xtream Codes, and Stalker
- Handles massive playlists without lag
- Deep customization options
- Lightweight — runs well on all Firestick models
- Interface takes time to learn
- Ads in free version
- Less community support than TiviMate
Best for: Power users who want granular control over their IPTV setup and don't mind spending time in settings menus.
4. GSE Smart IPTV
Free (ad-supported) · Remove ads $3.99GSE has been around longer than most IPTV apps, and it shows — in both good and less good ways. It supports M3U and JSON playlists, has a built-in player with subtitle support, and handles Chromecast output if you've got one on the same network.
The interface is functional but dated. It gets the job done, especially if you just need a straightforward M3U player without bells and whistles. The ad-supported free version is usable, though the ads can be annoying during channel browsing.
- Long track record — stable and proven
- Built-in subtitle support
- Chromecast output
- Works with JSON playlists
- Outdated interface
- Slower EPG loading
- Ads are more intrusive than OTT Navigator
Best for: Users who want a no-fuss M3U player with subtitle support and don't care much about UI polish.
Our Pick
TiviMate is our top recommendation. The EPG alone makes it worth the $4.99 annual premium — it turns your Firestick into something that feels like a proper set-top box. That said, TiviMate is a separate purchase from your IPTV subscription. Your subscription gives you the channel list and streams; TiviMate is the player that displays them.
If you don't want to pay for an app or deal with sideloading, IPTV Smarters Pro is the best free option. It's on the Amazon App Store, it works with Xtream Codes out of the box, and it's what most providers actively support.
How to Sideload IPTV Apps on Firestick
TiviMate and OTT Navigator aren't available on the Amazon App Store, so you'll need to sideload them using the Downloader app. Here's how:
- On your Firestick, go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options and enable "Install Unknown Apps."
- Open the Amazon App Store and search for "Downloader" by AFTVnews. Install it — it's free.
- Open Downloader. In the URL field, type the direct download link for the app you want (the developer's official site — for TiviMate, that's tivimate.com).
- Downloader will fetch the APK file. Once downloaded, tap "Install" when prompted.
- After installation, go back to Settings → Developer Options and toggle "Install Unknown Apps" back off for Downloader. This is a security best practice.
- Open the app from your Apps list, enter your IPTV subscription credentials (M3U URL or Xtream Codes login), and start watching.
The whole process takes about three minutes. If you run into issues, our support team can walk you through it — just send us a message via live chat or email help@catchontv1.email.
